Jason was born in East London on 18 September 1973. He matriculated from Selborne College, East London in 1991. He attended Rhodes University in Grahamstown from 1992 to 1996 where he obtained firstly his BA and thereafter an LLB. He joined Bate Chubb & Dickson in 1997.

Jason was a keen rugby player but has now hung up his boots and is a keen participant in triathlons having represented the Buffalo City team on numerous occasions at South African Triathlon Championships and having furthermore completed both the half and full Iron Man.
He is also an avid runner having completed many marathons and ultramarathons including both the 2 Oceans and Comrades races .

In line with the ethos of BCD Jason actively serves the community on a number of committees and at present is the Chairman of Arcadia Primary School Governing body, the honorary legal adviser to Oxford Striders Running Club, a trustee of the Greyhound Trust (Selborne Primary) and a member of the Mcclelland Management Committee.

Jason is married to Nina and has two daughters, Courtney and Alex and two sons, Josh and Connor.
